IMPORTANT NEWS
For those who don't know, at Hermitage we have a very dedicated committee that helps run and push the club forward. Last night (Sunday 7th May) we had a very important committee meeting about the future of the club and how to move forward.

The first thing to announce is that the Ladies have been successful in their application to join the National League Division 3 next season. Playing in the Central division, the ladies team will travel across the Midlands and even into Wales for matches next season. This is a massive step for the ladies, but it is very important for the development of the team as they have walked the LVA league for the past three seasons. Their addition to the national league will mean that only two ladies from that squad will be able to play at one time for the Local league side (as per LVA rules). This means more court time opportunities for our up and coming ladies, and will aid their development as well. If you have any questions about the Ladies side of our club then please email Sam on: S.C.Pittham@lboro.ac.uk. Sam is also going to arrange a meeting with some Ladies players to discuss fee's, training and selection policy at some point in the near future.

The second thing to announce from yesterday's meeting was the direction of the Men's team. We, as a club, are in a great position at the moment of having a large number of quality men’s volleyballers. And to continue development of these players it has been decided the Men to be split into two squads. A regional team and a Local side. The regional team will play in the East Midlands league, whilst the LVA team will defend our title next season. The idea is to have two core squads to allow all player to have more court time, and play competitive in a men’s league. Again if you have any questions on this the please email Men's captain and Club Chairman Jason on: Jason.Shilton@softwareag.co.uk

The mixed team will stay as it is next season.

The third important announcement is the way training works. Recently we have had a lot of games to finish the season off but proper training will resume as of this week. In fact this week should be extra special as we have a number of new players joining us. As a club recently we have had a lot of players wanting to play volleyball with us, and Eddie, Scott B, Mark P and Sam have all helped in taking starter sessions on a Sunday to help teach the core skill set so they can join in on normal training. They are now ready to join full training, and so on Thursday expect some new faces. This well mean that the first few weeks will be busy while the new players see if they like training, but Eddie, Jason along with myself and Suds will all try and make it run as smooth as possible.

The final important bit of information is the clubs AGM. Each year we sit down and talk about the club, how it is doing and if the training costs are acceptable etc. This is also the time that we elect the committee and captains, so if you'd like to be on the committee or a captain next season then make some noise at the AGM. Also if you are a committee member and you wish to leave your post, then please contact Jason.

THIS YEAR THE AGM WILL BE AT BOSWORTH WATER PARK ON THE 8 or 9th July. PLEASE EMAIL ME BACK WITH WHICH DATE YOU CAN MAKE.

As part of the end of season festivities the AGM will also co-inside with some outdoors volleyball. Bosworth water park is a great place for this and we will have a few matches and beers in the sunshine. Please can you email me, whether or not you can make it, so I know numbers.
Think that's it. Apologies for it being a bit of an essay, but it is important that each member knows what is happening.

The LVA are also running an Outdoor end of season tournament. This will be a fun local league standard tournament, that comprises of Mens and Ladies in the morning and mixed in the afternoon. It's on the 11th June, and if you want to play please contact Jason.

Right, finally dates for your diary then:

Saturday 13th May - Hermitage Social
11th June - LVA outdoors tournament (if you want to play please email Jason)
8/9th July - Hermitage AGM

Think that's it. Oh one more thing, BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO JO.
Catch you all on Thursday,
Scotty
